COURTNEY FORCE RUNS CAREER BEST NUMBERS AT POMONA

Pomona, California (February 22, 2016) - Courtney Force qualified No. 6 at the Winternationals this past weekend (gained five bonus points) at her home track in Pomona.

She qualified her Traxxas Chevrolet Camaro SS with a 3.945 second pass at 323.04 mph to go into race day against Gary Densham for only the third time in her career. The 27-year-old had a guaranteed win in the first round if she staged the car. Densham didn’t show after a devastating high-speed trip through the sand trap and into the catch net in qualifying.

Force would have been tough to beat in the opening round. She posted a career-best ET and speed, 3.925 seconds at 329.34 mph. It was the sixth-fastest run in Funny Car history. Her 329.34 mph was not only top speed of first round and top speed of race day, but also top speed of the meet. She was faster than Doug Kalitta’s 328.22 mph in Top Fuel, only the 32nd time in NHRA history a Funny Car has gone faster than a dragster.

Force had lane choice in the second round against Robert Hight but only by .003 seconds. The pair launched together, but Force had a hole out and Hight got the win.
