Las Vegas, Nevada (April 6, 2016) - John Force qualified No. 7 with a 3.986 ET at 320.81 mph going into eliminations at the 4th of 24 races on the NHRA Mello Yello Series.
John had lane choice in the first elimination round against Matt Hagan, had the starting line advantage and turned on the win light with a time of 4.059 seconds at 300.40 mph against Hagan’s 4.061 second, 308.07 mph pass. He then raced daughter Courtney Force and barely nosed out the Traxxas Chevy Funny Car at the finish line ,3.991 to 3.996 seconds. The semifinal race set up another tough battle for the five-time DENSO Spark Plug NHRA Nationals winner against Alexis DeJoria. Force could not get around DeJoria who eventually took home the win in a close race, 4.012 to 4.053 seconds.
