Jamie Veal takes Sydney Speedway hat-trick

Lucas Oil Sprintcar driver Jamie Veal has won his third consecutive A-Main at Sydney Speedway, becoming the first Victorian ever to do so.

Veal is undefeated in the 2014/15 season and said Sydney Speedway draws the most competitive fields week to week.

“It was great to win three from three. There’s nowhere better to run at this part of the season. Sydney is getting 50 cars each week and I’m enjoying travelling up there and to stir things up,” he said.

The #35 SWI Engineering/Lucas Oil Maxim started the feature from the front row alongside Max Dumesny, with the pair battling for the lead for the 17 laps before Dumesny spun, allowing Veal to run away with the win.

“It was good racing. Max [Dumesny] was good on the bottom side and I was running the top. Lapped traffic was starting to play a part and I don’t know what happened to Max, he just spun,” Veal said.

“Sydney Speedway’s track preparation has been spot on this year. All three nights have been good, fast tracks that have widened up for the feature and there have been multiple racing lines.”

Veal will race at Moama this weekend before heading to Avalon Speedway on Saturday 8 November. He will chase his fourth straight Sydney Speedway victory a four night later, 22 November.
